Trashy Clothing's AW25 collection, titled "Humiliation Rituals," confronts the contradictions of power—where control is fragile, dominance is desperate, and authority, in its attempt to impose order, exposes its own humiliation. Through distressed, sharp tailoring, militarized silhouettes, and bureaucratic motifs, the collection reflects a world where surveillance and censorship are thinly veiled performances of control. Everything is stamped, labeled, and assigned value.

The collection captures the rituals imposed on the powerless and the ways in which power humiliates itself in its attempts to dominate. Borders tighten, yet resistance grows. Censorship escalates, yet history persists. Aid is positioned as salvation, yet suffering remains profitable. AW25 dissects these contradictions, translating them into garments that embody both the submission of the powerful and the defiance of the oppressed.

AW25’s pieces blend distressed, sharp tailoring with industrial metal armor, creating a tension between structure and destruction. The garments feel both defensive and exposed—swords wrap around bodies as symbols of both protection and defiance. A nod to the 2010s media landscape, the styling references an era when controlled narratives were at their peak and power relied on illusion.

Models carry books purchased from the Education Bookshop in Jerusalem, recently raided by Israeli police in a fascist act of censorship. The attempt to erase Palestinian literature speaks to a larger truth—that power’s greatest fear is not weapons, but knowledge. The more it censors, the more it reveals its own fragility.
